v0.5๐Ÿ—ฟ New: World Wonders, search anywhere, and everything since v0.4!

1 juli 2026

Buckle up, pilots โ€” this is the biggest update roundup Toponauts has ever had! ๐Ÿš๐ŸŽ‰ Since version 0.4 "The World Trip" launched, we've quietly added country after country, feature after feature. Now it's time to show it all off in one big adventure. Here's everything that's new.

๐Ÿ—ฟ NEW: The 7 Wonders of the World

The headline feature of this update! Fly across the entire globe and discover 12 of the most famous wonders humans have ever built: the Great Wall of China, the Colosseum in Rome, the Taj Mahal in India, Machu Picchu high in the Peruvian mountains, the Statue of Liberty, the Pyramids of Giza, the Eiffel Tower, Christ the Redeemer in Rio, the Acropolis in Athens, the Sagrada Famรญlia in Barcelona, the ancient city of Petra, and Chichรฉn Itzรก in Mexico. Every wonder tells a story thousands of years in the making โ€” some are ancient, some are modern, and all of them are unforgettable.

๐Ÿ” NEW: Search anywhere in the world

Ever wanted to fly straight to one specific place, no matter which country it's in? Now you can! Type any name โ€” a mountain, a sea, a city, a volcano, a lake โ€” into the new search box, and Toponauts finds it for you across every country and every map. Click a result and you're flying there immediately. Curious about the Eiffel Tower, Loch Ness, or a volcano on a Spanish island? Just type and go.

๐ŸŒ Five brand-new countries joined the map

When version 0.4 launched, you could explore the Netherlands, Belgium and the USA. Since then, five more countries have joined, one by one: ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช Germany, ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท France, ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ Spain, ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง the United Kingdom, and ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Italy. That's eight countries in total, each with its own regions, capitals, big cities, rivers, mountains and more โ€” all ready to explore, switch between with one tap using "Change your country."

๐Ÿ™๏ธ Every region got so much richer

Flying into a region used to only show you its cities. Now, every French rรฉgion, German Bundesland, Italian regione and more comes packed with detail: not just big cities and villages, but also that region's own rivers & lakes and its nature areas & national parks. Want to know which river flows through Normandy, or which national park hides in Bavaria? Now you can find out just by flying there.

๐ŸŽฏ Fly INTO a place โ€” not just near it

This is a small change with a big effect on how the game feels. Mountains, seas, lakes and regions are huge areas, not single dots. So instead of just checking "are you close to the middle?", Toponauts now checks whether your helicopter is truly inside the shape. Cross the coastline of a sea or the edge of a mountain range, and โ€” found it! It feels much more like real exploring.

โ›ฐ๏ธ Mountains everywhere have a real shape

Mountain ranges all over the world got their own drawn outline: the Alps, the Pyrenees, Germany's Black Forest and Harz, Spain's Sierra Nevada, Italy's Dolomites, Britain's Pennines and Cairngorms, and the mighty Appalachians in the USA. Fly across the ridge line and you'll feel just how big these ranges really are. Famous single peaks โ€” like Ben Nevis or El Teide โ€” stay as one clear point, because a summit really is one exact spot.

๐ŸŒŠ A whole ocean of seas

Toponauts now has a complete seas & oceans layer: 53 seas and oceans on a world map (all five oceans plus dozens of famous seas, from the Caribbean to the Tasman Sea), a map of the seas of Europe, and for six countries, a map of exactly which seas touch their own coastline. Every sea and ocean has its own real shape drawn on the water โ€” even giant oceans that stretch across the whole globe.

๐Ÿž๏ธ Lakes and ๐Ÿ๏ธ islands with real coastlines

France and the United Kingdom got their own lake maps โ€” glide across Lac Lรฉman, Loch Ness, and Lake Windermere. And islands across Spain, the UK and Italy now have their real coastline drawn wherever possible: fly along the edge of Tenerife, Sicily, or the Isle of Wight and feel the shape of real land surrounded by sea.

๐ŸŽจ A colour-coded map

A simple but very handy upgrade: every area you fly into now has a natural colour. Water glows blue, mountains turn brown, and land, regions and nature areas are green โ€” exactly like a real atlas. It makes the whole map easier to read at a glance, and it helps your brain remember what kind of place you just found.

๐Ÿ๏ธ NEW: The Canary Islands, Spain's volcanic archipelago

A brand-new themed map just for this famous Spanish archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Africa. Explore all seven main islands, fly into Mount Teide (Spain's highest peak), the otherworldly volcanic landscape of Timanfaya, the giant crater Caldera de Taburiente, and the misty ancient forests of Garajonay โ€” plus the islands' biggest cities.

๐Ÿ‘ฅ Play together, ๐Ÿ“ธ recognise photos, and more

Alongside all the maps and geography, we've been building ways to make Toponauts more fun and more social: you can now fly together with other kids in the same round, recognise real places from a photo, follow a river from its very start to the sea, see the world on a real spinning globe, and there's a friendly step-by-step button that guides younger explorers through the Netherlands one place at a time. Pin your own favourite spots on the map, and choose your own pilot name and avatar.

๐Ÿ’ก Did you know?

  • The Great Wall of China is so long that if you unrolled it, it would stretch further than the distance from Amsterdam to New York โ€” several times over.
  • The Pyramids of Giza are the only Wonder of the Ancient World that still exists today.
  • The Pacific Ocean, part of our new seas & oceans map, is bigger than every continent on Earth combined.
  • Machu Picchu was built so cleverly into the mountainside that it stayed hidden from the outside world for centuries.

๐Ÿš Ready for takeoff?

That's a LOT of new sky to explore โ€” new countries, new mountains, new seas, new wonders, and a way to search the whole world in a heartbeat. Jump in, pick a map, and see how much of the planet you can discover. Happy flying! ๐Ÿš๐ŸŒ
