🇦🇹 New country: fly over Austria!

Grab your climbing boots — Toponauts is heading into the Alps! 🇦🇹⛰️ Austria is our newest country to explore, with all 9 federal states, the biggest cities, the great rivers and the famous Alpine lakes.

🗺️ Nine states, nine capitals

Austria is a federal country made up of nine Bundesländer, each with its own capital — from Vienna (Wien), which is a city and a state at once, to Tyrol with its mountain capital Innsbruck, sunny Carinthia (Klagenfurt) and tiny Vorarlberg in the far west (Bregenz). Fly into each state — its real border lights up when you're inside!

⛰️ The Alps rule

Around 62% of Austria is covered by the Alps. You'll find mountain groups like the Hohe Tauern — home to the Großglockner (3,798 m), Austria's highest peak — plus the Karwendel, the Dachstein and the Karawanken along the southern border.

🌊 Rivers and lakes

The Danube (Donau) flows west-to-east across the north, joined by the Inn, Salzach, Enns, Drau and Mur. And don't miss the lakes: the reedy Neusiedler See in the east, the deep Attersee and Wörthersee, and Lake Constance (Bodensee) shared with Germany and Switzerland.

▶️ How to play

Switch your country to Austria with the "change your country" button, then pick a map — states, capitals, rivers, mountains or lakes. Zoom into a single Bundesland to practise its towns. Ready? Auf geht's! 🚁
