New in Toponauts: the world really on a globe

14 June 2026

At Toponauts we're always looking for ways to make topography not only clearer but also more appealing for kids. That's why we've given the world tasks a new look: you now see them on a globe instead of a flat map.

That may sound like a visual update, but it does more than that. A globe immediately feels more logical when kids are working with countries, continents, oceans and their place on Earth. You're no longer looking at an unfolded world, but at a shape that better matches how our planet is really pictured.

Why a globe fits better

A flat map is handy, but can also be abstract for kids. On a globe it becomes clearer faster that the Earth is round and that areas are part of one whole. That helps to learn topography not just by heart, but to understand it better.

For parents and teachers that's nice: kids still practise place names and locations in a focused way, but the setting in which they do it feels more natural and richer.

More depth and more atmosphere

We didn't just want to put a globe on screen, but really give the feeling that there's space behind it. So we worked on more depth in the scene. The globe now sits in a setting that feels more open and spacious, giving the image more calm and atmosphere.

In addition, twinkling and falling stars add extra atmosphere. Those subtle details make the screen livelier, without distracting from the task itself. The result is a look that invites you to keep playing and practise a few more places.

Motivation matters

Kids often learn better when an exercise feels pleasant. A nice, well-cared-for setting can help with that. If a task sparks curiosity and a little wonder, practising is less quickly seen as "having to" and more as something you happily continue with.

Just familiar practice, in a new look

The core of Toponauts doesn't change: kids still practise topography in a clear and accessible way. What has changed is the presentation of our world tasks. It now fits the subject itself better and gives the exercises a warmer, more modern feel.

  • World tasks are now shown on a globe
  • The new view gives more sense of depth and space
  • Twinkling and falling stars add extra atmosphere
  • The tasks stay familiar, clear and kid-friendly

Curious how that looks? Open the world tasks in Toponauts and experience it yourself.
